Before and After School/Homework Center
Starmaker Learning Center Before and After School Programs are designed to supplement your child's school program. Our program offers a hi-tech program including supervised homework. We also offer extended hours on school holidays and early dismissal. The children can also enjoy creative arts, computers, science, music and movement and have fun with their friends or classmates.
At Starmaker Learning Center we are concerned with the developmental needs of each child. We also endeavor to provide activities that ensure the growth of the child. The child chooses between various activity centers, including outdoor play. Each child is encouraged to express himself imaginatively and creatively. Our curriculum and activities enhance each of the main phases of development: physical, intellectual, social, and emotional.
Currently, St. Mary's County provides transportation to and from Evergreen Elementary and The King's Christian Academy. Children from other schools are welcome to attend our program, however, you will need to call your school to find out if they will transport your child to and from Starmaker.
Environment
For children enrolled in our programs their day is extended with age appropriate activities. The emphasis of this part of the day is on homework completion, and social and physical development. Children arriving from elementary or middle schools will go into our multipurpose area where they will have access to our library, board games, computers, and outside play areas, and, if parents have requested study hall, staff assistance for home work. This area is designed with the older child in mind.
We have a large outdoor play area for the children. Outside playground equipment includes; a balance beam, balls, jump ropes, basketballs and swings. For the older children we also have access to the Wildewood playing fields.
Staff
Our Teaching staff is composed of fully qualified and highly motivated people. Staff members are required to be trained in the growth and developmental stages of children and to hold current infant and child CPR certificates.
Our staff to student ratio is approximately 1:15 with extra assistants available as needed. |
