Summer Academic Program

Starmaker Learning Center offers an educational and fun-filled summer program for children 5 - 7 years of age. This program is designed to help children enhance their skills in all educational areas. The class meets Monday through Thursday from 8:30 to 3:00 p.m. The program concentrates on five different areas: math, spelling, writing, reading and social skills. Children in this program will need to purchase the program workbooks to supplement their lessons. The program is designed to blend fun with learning.

We at Starmaker Learning Center are concerned with the developmental needs of the whole child. Our curriculum is based on an interrelated teaching approach. The child chooses between different activity centers, including outdoor play. Each child is encouraged to express himself imaginatively and creatively. Our curriculum and activities enhance each of the main phases of development: physical, intellectual, social and emotional.

At Starmaker Learning Center we are concerned with the developmental needs of the whole child. Our summer program is based on an interactive teaching approach. We also endeavor to provide activities that ensure the growth of the child. The child chooses between different activities, including outdoor free play. Each child is encouraged to express himself imaginatively and creatively. Our planned activities enhance each of the main phases of development: physical, intellectual, social, and emotional.

The children play a large part in determining what they will be doing for the summer. They have freedom to choose the projects that they will work on for the summer. In past years they have chosen to create a school newspaper, present short skits and plays before the younger children, and keep summer journals. They can choose to learn new skills or refresh current skills in areas such as, computers, chess, soccer, basketball, bowling, skating or bike riding. Since our programs are child directed, there is no limit on what the children can learn.
