The child's
real life experiences show him or her that he/she is a capable and valued individual.
By participating in the daily activities of family life, the child learns he/she
is valued as a contributing member of the family unit and of his/her class. Given
responsibility, the child learns self-control and self-limits. Children gain self-confidence
as they independently explore learning centers. Saxon
Early Learning is divided into a three instructional segments: I wonder, I discover,
and I explore. Along with these segments (9) nine themes that are put in an order
to reflect the children's developmental stages. Weekly lesson are put together
with four specific concepts and literature selections. The
program encourages children to examine the physical world around them, to begin
to understand how living things are found in variety of habitats, and to appreciate
the world of imagination through art, literature, music and movement.
